The Path of the Paws: from an oracle deck to an app in two stores
A spirit animal app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android. I planned it, wrote it, built it and brought it into the App Store and Google Play. It is my own product, and it shows how I work when I take an idea all the way.

iPhone + Apple Watch
Apple Watch app and widgets made for Apple devices
App Store + Google Play
Live in both stores, with subscriptions
70+ spirit animals
Every text written by me, in English and German
No account, no tracking
Journal entries stay on the device
The starting point
A card deck that wanted to become a daily companion
The Path of the Paws began as my oracle deck and book: 43 hand-illustrated spirit animals, each with its own message. People loved the cards, but a deck stays on the shelf on busy days.
So I asked myself how to bring that quiet moment with an animal into everyday life, without building yet another app that pulls people into endless scrolling. The answer became a calm app with one animal a day, practices you can choose and a journal that belongs only to you.
A look inside
Four screens, one rhythm
Designed so a visit can take two minutes or half an hour. Both feel right.

What I built
One product, many touchpoints
I did all of it myself, from the first text to the store listing. These are the parts that make the app work in daily life.
iPhone
One app, built to feel at home
One shared codebase for iOS and Android, with native features where it matters. All texts, meditations, drum journeys and soundscapes are on the device, so the app works offline, on a plane or in the forest.
Apple Watch
A companion on the wrist
The app also runs on the Apple Watch, so the day’s animal is on your wrist and you do not need to pick up your phone.
Widgets
Home and Lock Screen
A widget shows the spirit animal of the day with its message right on the Home and Lock Screen. One tap leads into the practices.
Notifications
Gentle, never pushy
A soft daily reminder, and if you like, a note on the morning of a full or new moon. Nothing more. The app is built to give time back, not to take it.
Subscriptions
Free core, fair Premium
The spirit animal of the day stays free. Premium is billed through Apple and Google, with monthly, yearly and lifetime options and a one-week free trial.
Privacy
Nothing collected, nothing sold
No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising. Journal entries and answers stay on the device. That is a promise in the app and in the privacy policy.
Into the stores
From the first draft to App Store and Google Play
Publishing an app is more than uploading a file. Each store has its own rules, review process and listing. I took care of all of it.

Concept and content
Writing first, code second
More than 70 animals, eight practices each, meditations, drum journeys and journal prompts. All of it written by me, in English and German.
Design and build
A calm interface
Night-sky colors, the illustrations from the deck and a structure with as few taps as possible. Tested on iPhone, Apple Watch and Android devices.
App Store
Listing, privacy labels and review
I set up store texts, screenshots, keywords, privacy details and subscriptions in App Store Connect, then took the app through Apple’s review.
Google Play
The Android version
The same animals, practices and soundscapes for Android, with its own store listing and Google’s in-app billing.
Ongoing
Updates and care
Regular updates with new features, store texts kept up to date, and a reply to every question that comes in.
Making it findable
The app is only half the work. People have to find it.
This is where my marketing background comes in, and it is the same work I do for my clients.

Search and AI visibility
A dedicated landing page with structured data, so search engines and AI tools can tell what the app is, who it is for and where to get it.

Content around the app
Blog articles, an A to Z spirit animal guide and newsletters in two languages lead people from a question to the app that answers it.

Out in the world
In November 2026 I am presenting the app at Web Summit in Lisbon, in the healthtech and wellness area. That means real conversations, next to everything that happens online.
Your project
Something of yours that deserves to be seen?
Whether it is an app, a course, a product or your practice: I bring the same care to making it visible, in your voice and without the noise.
